Sprucing + Splashing
"..it's the enlivening discoveries + delight we experience along the way."
OK, then. Greetings to you! It’s been very pleasing to receive emails telling me that people actively choose to receive emails from me. Thank you, + new followers, all.
This is a longish post. If you’re reading on email + want to see all that I’m sharing here, please visit on site - via main landing page: jaihn2.substack.com.

I got to splashing again since I last posted, + I’m sharing while the to-show pics pile is manageable.
I didn’t mention last time that I’d been blitzing the playroom for weeks - nesting, really, preparing for the coming months when I will be only indoors.
Sweetly, the impulse + the energy to clear the decks arrived early, + insistently. Fitted the lull in the warmer weather here, + allowed a no-stone-unturned intensive blitz which endured for several weeks.
(Many stones do remain unturned. But a big lot did get turned.)
I’m a fan of a bit of creative effort, as ongoingly as is possible. In whatever form makes sense in a moment.
The sleeves-up forensic sifting, culling + organising efforts phase had me gasping to make a new mess. And now I’ve splashed again, begun the fresh mess-making, I’m singing praises back to my persevering self who was so committed to creating the wonderful space I have to play in now.
My aim was simply: “I have to be in Love with this space again, to feel good in here through this forthcoming lonnnng Winter”.
As you may know if you’ve been around me in any context, I do really love to transform my environment, periodically, and I’ve become a True Champion ClutterBuster over the decades.
There is always more, because I was also a True Champion Gatherer (+ copious creatress) of Things. But that’s ok. It’s all liveable, doable, currently.
There are some fabulous corners all zhuzhied up + pared back here now. And more clear surfaces than I’ve seen in many a year.
I haven’t got Marathon energy, but I am good at short sprinting, pausing, sprinting, over + over, and hanging in with it till the wind shifts, so to speak. And, Yay! The wind shifted.

Now, Autumnal colourings insist on being flamboyantly earthed, I find.
A bunch of pics follow, to show you some of how that looks, so far.

I like the way Susan G . Wooldridge speaks of creativity, especially in her book;
”Fools Gold - Making Something From Nothing (And Freeing Your Creative Process). Here’s a snippet:

There were many delights + enlivening discoveries in the experience of this splashing, the first, post-Clearances:
One of the fabulously clarified corners in the playroom.
More Beauty-full + more functional than ever:

Another form of splashing h a p p e n i n g overhere is the Gessoing of board books - preparing for Something. I love the weight, the comfy corners, the limited pages.
Fabric baskets also got a cull+spruce up, + I noticed the colour-echoes with a ?last-year painting. Another pleasing playroom vignette is born.
Alongside all this ontheground transforming, (you may have your own knowing that) Typepad announced a sudden-death (pure eclipsey) end to the blog archives I had there, with only a month’s notice.
I’m hugely grateful to B for having the skills to hoover up records of the decade of posting I did overthere, on my 2006-2016 blog, ‘truly spacious’.
Since it’ll simply vanish in a couple of days, I won’t link that. Add it to the LetGo pile.
The hoovering has brought a bunch of new possibilities for sharing further artistry glimpses, which I find quite exciting.
First up, the Autumnalness, above, reminded me of a couple of digital drawings I’d brought through some years back, + had spotted in the newly-made files of a-while-since-made imagery.
I’d have to check to see if I can date them, but more relevant, I feel, is showing the visual echoes.
My voice, visible, thru time.
Then, some stitchings from the copious pic galleries piped up, asking to be seen in this post. And so here’s a glimpse of them, too.
The stitchings could be from pre-2006, I think.
I didn’t date anything, over decades, so it’s a guessing game - but no matter.
The visual echoes are what I care to show you, not museumisation.
(But I can say that the lower rhs painting (in pic below) must be from post 2008, because that table is in the Lovely Garden.)

I’ll show just the two digitalpics in larger view. Done via a Wacom tablet, probably:
And to bring us round to recent H A P P E N I N G, again:
MiniMarathon show ends.
Thank you for joining me thus far, if you did. Unlikely the sendouts will be this long every time. I had thought: ‘o maybe 4 or 5 pics each time.’ Hahahaha.
I wish you all manner of enlivening enjoyments amidst the Autumnal Flurries,
or the Spring Arisings, accordingly. Libran Loveliness be with you, with each Breath.
Till next post,
Warmly, ~ J a i h n.

I love this snippet you shared it's so true. Picture of fabrics with painting on background is absolutely stunning! Xx
An illuminating tour of a pro streamliner - thanks for the writeup! Really enjoyed it. Pics looking suitably Autumnal, feel cosier just looking at them 🎃
